Diann Seigle

Executive Director

Diann Seigle is the Executive Director for Carolina Dispute Settlement Services and has served in that capacity since 1997.
​

Honored as one of only eight mediators in North Carolina to achieve "Advanced Practitioner" member status from the National Association of Conflict Resolution, Diann has mediated over seven thousand cases in the divorce, family, employment, Medicaid, and criminal areas. 

Her areas of practice include dispute resolution system design, mediation in complex cases, arbitration, med-arb and teaching.

Diann introduced Collaborative Law to North Carolina, and designed and implemented a pilot study to assess the process and results of collaborative law in the family arena. 

She is an Advanced Family Practitioner Member, Association For Conflict Resolution, and is certified by the NCDRC in criminal matters.

Diann designed, implemented and instructed for over ten years in the NCCU School of Law NCDRC Certified Superior Course and Clinic.

Diann has Served as:


  • A three term Commissioner to the North Carolina Dispute Resolution Commission appointed by the NC Speaker of the House and NC Chief Justice
  • Advisory Board member to the Superintendent of North Carolina Public Schools
  • Board member to the ADR Section NC Bar Association
  • Past President of the Wake County Democratic Women
  • Board Member for the Jewish Federation​
  • Co-Chair of the Standards & Discipline Committee on the Commission overseeing the certification and
    ​de-certification of mediators across NC
  • Wake County Domestic Violence Task Force member​

Diann instructs the 16-Hour and 40-Hour NCDRC Certified Supreme Court Family Financial Mediation and Employment Law Courses.
Diann has been married for over twnety years to Jeffrey M. Seigle, a collaborative attorney, arbitrator and mediator. They have three sons, the oldest is Alec, and the twin sons, Adam and Erik.

Initiatives

Mrs. Seigle has designed and implemented:
  • NC Office of State Personnel Mediation Program for NC State grievance system, which is currently operating in all NC state agencies and universities. 
  • UNCH mediation/hearing panel program within UNC Health Care Teaching Hospital system for employee grievances. 
  • NC Office of Administrative Hearings mediation program for all NC Medicaid Appeals: currently mediates over 18,000 cases a year
  • ​IACT Program for medical errors
