In 1987, CDSS designed and implemented the District Criminal Court Mediation programs of Wake, Vance, Warren, Granville and Franklin Counties. Thousands of civil and criminal cases have been resolved through these programs, easing overcrowded dockets and affording the courts needed time to try cases that must be resolved through trial. CDSS trains mediators and administers this vital program for mediators in
Wake County and throughout the state.
CDSS provides a District Court Mediation Program in the 9th and 10th Districts, which is staffed almost entirely by an exceptional group of volunteer mediators.
It is CDSS policy that all applicants must possess a four-year degree and have completed, at minimum, an approved 40-hour mediation training course or equivalent training.
CDSS is pleased to offer complimentary training for the District Court program to individuals as well as agency and court personnel. Please contact us for more information.
