Honorable Ralph Walker

Judge Walker has over 40 years of professional legal experience in North Carolina. He engaged in private practice, served as a prosecutor and worked as a county attorney before serving as a Superior Court judge and a Court of Appeals judge. He most recently served as the Director of the Administrative Office of the Courts. Judge Walker has over 18 years of experience as a mediator, arbitrator, hearing officer and referee in a variety of cases including family, employment, construction, commercial, personal injury, medical malpractice and administrative law. He was a founding member of the North Carolina Court of Appeals Mediation Committee and served as the Chair of the North Carolina Dispute Resolution Commission for seven years. In 2007 the Dispute Resolution Section of the North Carolina Bar Association presented Judge Walker with the section’s Peace Award recognizing his special commitment to the peaceful resolution of disputes. Judge Walker is included on the rosters for Carolina Dispute Settlement Services and the American Arbitration Association.
