Dawn Bryant, attorney, mediator and arbitrator, joined Carolina Dispute Settlement Services as Director of Education and Clinical Services after retiring from a twenty-eight year career as the police attorney with the City of Raleigh police department. As police attorney she served as in-house counsel for the department working with employment law, civil liability issues, criminal law and procedure, Constitutional law and contract law. In her position with Carolina Dispute Settlement Services, Ms. Bryant is responsible for creating and delivering mediation training and for supervising law students and state employees who are training to become mediators. She graduated in 1978 from UNC-Chapel Hill with a BA degree in International Studies. In 1981 Ms. Bryant graduated with honors from North Carolina Central University School of Law with a Juris Doctor degree. Ms. Bryant has served in numerous volunteer positions throughout the years such as President of Child Care Resource and Referral of Wake County, President of the Fred A. Olds P.T.A. and President of Mediation Services of Wake County. She was a founding member and currently chairs the Wake County Domestic Violence Task Force. Ms. Bryant is a certified Superior Court, District Court and Family Financial mediator. She is a member of the North Carolina Dispute Resolution Commission. She is married to Steven F. Bryant, an attorney with the North Carolina Attorney General’s office, and is the proud mother of Katie and Kelly.
